The town of Sison, Pangasinan celebrated its 146th Founding Anniversary on December 14, 15 & 16, 2008 in its newly built square.
The activity commenced with stirring welcome remarks from the gorgeous Lady Mayor, Hon. Kimi S. Cojuangco, whose message broke the surrendered stance and almost eternal desperation of her constituents. The usual ebullient personality of the Mayor always infects those who hear.
The people and the many balikbayans who came all the way home to have a glimpse of what has become of their hometown, that in almost all of the province’s tabloids, magazines and even in cyberspace is a permanent issue, realized that a dawn at last has finally come for the town of Sison. The many accomplishments that seemed decades to carve and often met with derisions already stood in only a year’s service. Except for political agendas, however, the people are not to be blamed for having their minds set to being always cynical. The long years of idleness and despondency annihilated their reasons to dream and believe that there is yet another tomorrow and there are yet politicians who are not politicians to emerge.
In her speech, she thanked the Honorable Congressman, Mark O. Cojuangco, her husband who have been and is always standing alongside in bringing to fruition development plans for Sison that were once thought to be castles in the air. The full backing of many friends from the higher echelon, the 5th District’s Board Member, Danilo C. Uy, ABONO Party List’s Chairman, Engr. Rosendo So, and the LGUs made everything achievable. Now that the people’s confidence is slowly restored and the balikbayans regained their trust, hand in hand, the leaders and constituents now gears for the town’s promotion to upper class.
If in the previous year, the Mayor gave salute to the young once constituents – recognition of their veiled heroism and undying loyalty, a gesture of gratitude for their sacrifices and to mend the ordeals they have gone through, now she gave the youths the time of their lives.
