Through the request of the town’s chief, Hon. Kimi S. Cojuangco, Senator Loren B. Legarda donated Five Hundred Thousand Pesos for the procurement of textbooks for both the elementary and secondary in all public schools in Sison.
However, it was learned that the Department of Education is also brewing the same program and, also, the donated amount is insufficient to procure the needed basic textbooks so the plan was realigned to notebooks.
In the absence of Mayor Kimi, the Acting Mayor, Hon. Besaulozacheus L. Marinas, along with the District Supervisor, Dr. Eliza O. Rosino, and some members of the Sanggunian Bayan in the persons of SB Mbrs. Eric Biason, Benson Aquino and Juanito Lagmay, including the Mayor’s Executive Assistant, Mr. Inocencio G. Carganilla, took charge in the distribution of the books that started in Barangay Esperanza followed by Barangay Cabaritan, Pindangan and Binmeckeg on June 9, 2009. All other schools have their own distribution schedules – including the Pilawan Elementary School which is located in a very far-flung area.
At the first day of distribution, the recipients were so jubilant to receive their free gifts. The parents who happen to be at the distribution area were also thankful to the Mayor and the generous Senator.
