Sison officials amassed immense commendation for effecting the Post Valentine’s Day Mass Wedding Ceremony held at the municipal plaza on February 15, 2012. Mayor Mina Joy C. Pangasinan instituted the activity on the same month in 2011 and now bears the prospect of becoming an annual Valentine’s Day event.
Mayor Pangasinan sensed the intense need to provide her constituents this complimentary nuptial rite in order to abate the escalating number of live-in partners who have postponed marriage for various reasons, some of which were simply that they could not afford to get married. The mass wedding ceremony waives the required fees normally collected by the registry office and also provides the newlyweds with the customary celebration afterwards.

The municipal government is the major supporter of the event, coordinating everything from providing the venue, decorations and the wedding feast after the ceremony. This year, Representative Kimi Cojuangco donated the fare for the wedding reception.
